In 1988, a young and ambitious hair stylist named Andrew Jose planted a flag on Charlotte Street, Fitzrovia, at a time when the area was still finding its creative heartbeat.

He opened his first salon in a corner of London that, by his own account, was far from the creative hub it would later become.

Andrew’s vision was clear from the start: a welcoming space - open to all - where exceptional hairstyling and genuine personal connection went hand in hand.

What began as a one room studio has grown into one of London’s most respected independent salons - a place where artistry, craft, and community meet every day.

Andrew Jose is far more than a salon owner - he is regarded as one of the world’s leading hair stylists, a renowned educator, and a lifelong ambassador for the craft.

His signature approach was shaped during his years as Principal of the Vidal Sassoon Schools & Academies in the late 1970s and 80s. As punk and a new wave of ‘fashion with attitude’ emerged, Andrew broke free from convention to herald in a bold new era of hairstyling. His pioneering vision sparked a creative revolution, introducing techniques that have since become fundamentals of modern hairdressing.

Since opening his own salon and going on to win the Wella Vogue Salon of the Year in 1991, Andrew’s influence has extended far beyond the chair. From the early days of London’s creative explosion, he has worked at the beating heart of fashion, film, and music - collaborating closely with designers, stylists, photographers, and performers who continue to inspire his work and the philosophy of his eponymous salon.

Now settled in its iconic Edwardian home at No. 1 Charlotte Street, Andrew leads a team of wonderfully talented stylists (and even better people), creating a calm, contemporary retreat from the bustling city outside.

Across two beautifully considered floors, the space blends timeless elegance with quiet luxury. Bathed in natural light, it's a sanctuary that feels warm, relaxed, and effortlessly welcoming.
